Tour Ratings
To keep things simple we rate our trips as Easy, Moderate or Hard or as we like to call them;
'Wanderer', 'Explorer' and 'Adventurer'
Wanderer (Easy) is suitable for a standard 4wd that has low range and drivers with little 4wd experience. Vehicles should have at least a rear recovery point, a sand flag and carry a UHF radio (hand held is fine). Note that even the easy tracks that we drive have over growth and it is possible that your vehicle will get scratched.
Explorer (Moderate) is suitable for a modified 4wd with low range, a suspension lift, a rear recovery point, a sand flag, good all terrain tyres and a UHF (hand held is fine). Drivers should have some 4wdriving experience.
Adventurer (Hard) is only suitable for well modified 4wd vehicles. As a minimum vehicles should have low range, a 50mm suspension lift, good all terrain tyres, front and rear recovery points, a sandflag, snorkel and a water blind (a tarp and occy straps will suffice). Drivers must have some 4wd experience to do these tours.
7 Day West Coast Adventurer - Hard
Tracks Include The Big 5; Sandy Cape, Balfour Track, Pieman Heads, Climies Track, Montezuma Falls.
This is our Adventurer (Hard) Tour and is only suitable for well modified 4wd vehicles. Drivers must have some 4wd experience to do these tours.
This Adventure has everything, from beaches, rainforest, technical rock driving and everything in between! We drive some of Tasmania's most iconic 4wd tracks and explore Tasmania's unique (and hidden!) mining history. Departs Burnie and ends in Zeehan.
This tour is self catering and there are accomodation options to suit everyone! The first night is camping only and for every other night there is the option of camping, basic cabin style accommodation and premium accommodation which includes glamping at the Zeehan Bush Camp.
The tour is self catering, in other words, you provide you own food and cooking equipment. Alternatively you can eat out every night if you would prefer (aside from the first night which is a bush camp). Included is all camping fees, APCA 4wd permit, Pieman River barge and our very own photographer to capture your Offroad Adventure!
The tours are very friendly and relaxed... a lot of people on our tours have made good friends with other attendees. We usually get away by 8-9 am every day and aim to be at camp around 4-5pm.
Itinerary
Day 1
After meeting up in Burnie we spend the morning driving to the wild West Coast and hit the tracks to Sandy Cape. The day takes in blacktop, dirt, gravel before making the beach drive to the Cape.
Day 2
We explore the Sandy Cape area before back tracking up the beach to tackle the legendary Balfour Track.
Day 3
We explore the magnificent views around Arthur River, enjoy a little beach driving. After exploring the hidden sites of the old mining town of Balfour we head to camp at Corinna.
Day 4
After crossing the Pieman River on the Fatman Barge we check out the sights around the Reece Dam and Trial Harbour before having a sneak peak at Climies Track.
Day 5
Today we tackle one of Tassie’s most scenic 4wd Tracks, the Pieman Heads.
Day 6
Climies Track - Tassie’s best known 4wd Track! Ocean to the west, mountain ranges to the east, keep your eyes on the track because there are plenty of hills, ruts and wheel lifting action!
Day 7
Beautiful drive through the rainforest culminating at Tassie’s highest waterfall – the Montezuma Falls.

2 Day Beach to Bush Wanderer (Easy)
This is an easy overnight trip taking in the beach and bush in the North East of Tassie. Incorporated into this trip is training in recovery techniques, making it an ideal trip to ease your way in to one of our West Coast trips. The trip begins and ends in Launceston. A great day ideal for families to take in 4wdriving and exploring. This is a camping trip.
